Security Roles

Be aware of the following guidelines when assigning security roles:

Ongoing Role Maintenance

At least one user should be assigned the DepartmentManager or StoreManager role so that person retains the ability to maintain security roles for other users.

Some roles that are required during system setup (i.e., CreditCardSetup and AcuSportOrderingSetup) are not needed for day-to-day operations and may be subsequently unassigned.

Special Password/Login Restrictions

Certain roles (i.e., AuditLogView and CreditCardSetup) impose the following restrictions on users (login IDs including administrative and superuser accounts) to whom they are assigned:

The user's password must be changed every 90 days. The password must be a minimum of 7 alphanumeric characters in length and contain at least one letter and one number. The 4 most recent passwords may not be reused.

The user will be automatically logged out if the application is idle for 15 minutes.

The user will be prevented from logging in for a period of 30 minutes after 6 consecutive failed login attempts. The system records all login attempts (on all machines) in the PCI Audit Log screen and resets the 6-attempt counter to zero with the completion of a successful login or the expiration of the time limit.
